Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small records a site writes to your browser; some are sent to the relevant server with later requests. localStorage is storage kept in your browser that code from the same site can read. These technologies can store preferences or identifiers; not every record is necessarily anonymous.

Simply visiting the site does not constitute explicit consent to non-essential cookies.

Records metugpa stores in your browser

  • Cookie preferences: The cc_cookie_metugpa cookie remembers your selections in the preference panel. The software we use has a default lifetime of 182 days; browser restrictions or saving your preferences again may affect this. You can view the current expiry in your browser’s cookie information.
  • Ranking information: metugpa no longer stores your ranking in your browser. localStorage records beginning with metugpa.rank. left by older versions are deleted automatically when you open a guide page.

You do not need membership or sign-in cookies to use our calculators. Language versions have separate links.

Third-party advertising and measurement resources

Some pages load Google advertising and measurement scripts. These resources may receive request information and use cookies or similar identifiers. The cookies used and their lifetimes can vary with your browser, advertising settings and the provider’s practices.

The site’s fonts and software libraries are served from our own server, so no separate requests are made to font or content delivery services. See our Privacy Policy and Google’s cookie information for details.

Changing your preferences

The Google Analytics measurement script loads only after you give permission for the relevant category. Google’s consent-management script loads beforehand so that it can ask for your choices; this connection may send your IP address and technical request information to Google. This does not mean you have agreed to analytics or advertising.

Where Google’s consent message applies, you make advertising choices through that message. After your decision, AdSense may serve personalized, non-personalized or limited ads according to your permissions and its eligibility rules. Limited ads do not use personalization; IP addresses and technical information may still be processed to deliver ads. If the relevant Google feature is enabled, fraud-prevention storage may be used. Rejecting cookies therefore does not always mean that you will see no ads.

In US states whose privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, we show ads and measure visits without asking first. You can opt out with the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer; after that, only non-personalized ads are shown and Google Analytics is not loaded.

Elsewhere, if you do not allow advertising cookies in our cookie panel, AdSense does not load. Instead, Google Ad Manager is asked for limited ads, which do not use advertising cookies, identifiers or personalization; Google may use a cookie only to detect invalid traffic and fraud.

If Google’s message does not ask about analytics, Google Analytics is not loaded. In other regions, our panel lets you choose analytics and advertising-cookie preferences; rejecting advertising cookies prevents the regular AdSense script from loading. You can continue using the calculators and guide without giving permission. Use the buttons on this page to change your choices.

Withdrawing permission reloads the page to stop previously loaded measurement or advertising scripts; this does not undo information already sent or remove every cookie on third-party domains.

How to control these records

Use your browser’s privacy or site-data settings to delete metugpa.com cookies and localStorage records. Browser settings can also restrict cookies or third-party resources. Deleting these records may reset your cookie preferences and saved rankings.

You can manage Google advertising preferences in My Ad Center. This setting alone does not stop every request to Google. Ranking information in shared URLs is separate from cookies; clearing site data does not delete browser history or links you have already shared.
