What this policy covers
This policy explains how information is handled when you use calculators and university guides on metugpa.com. You do not need an account or identity details to use the site. For privacy questions, contact the metugpa team at web.mfkaradeniz[at]gmail.com.
Data controller
metugpa is operated by RAY INFORMATICS YAZILIM TEKNOLOJİ MEDYA DANIŞMANLIK VE EĞİTİM TİCARET LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ (Ray Informatics), the data controller for the processing described here. You can send privacy requests to web.mfkaradeniz[at]gmail.com.
Information you enter into calculators
Inputs such as grades, credits, correct and incorrect answer counts and diploma grades are processed in your browser by our calculator code. This code does not send your inputs to a calculation server or save them to a user account to perform calculations.
This does not mean that using the site makes no network requests. Pages, data files, fonts and some third-party scripts are loaded over the internet. Links to explore programs based on your ranking may also carry information as described below.
Rankings carried between pages
When you move from a calculator to the university guide, your ranking, score type, calculation year and some filters are carried in the part of the link after the # sign. Browsers do not send this part to our server, so it does not appear in our access logs; the guide removes it from the address bar as soon as the page opens.
metugpa does not store your ranking in your browser. Older versions of the site wrote rankings to localStorage records beginning with metugpa.rank.; these are deleted automatically when you open a guide page.
Site access and external services
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 in the Frankfurt region of Germany. When you visit, this infrastructure may process your IP address, requested URL, request time and technical browser information. Access logs may be kept to deliver pages, investigate errors and maintain security.
Advertising, measurement and the consent message are provided by Google (AdSense, Ad Manager, Google Analytics and Google’s consent-management service). When your browser connects to these services, Google receives your IP address and technical information sent with the request. Advertising services may also use cookies or similar identifiers; for limited ads, Google may use a cookie only to detect invalid traffic and fraud.
The site’s fonts and software libraries are served from our own server; we do not load them from third-party font or content delivery services. For Google’s data practices, see Google’s privacy information. Our Cookie Policy explains cookies and your choices.
Google Analytics 4 runs with your permission to measure visits (in US states with opt-out privacy laws, until you opt out using the footer link); advertising cookies have a separate preference. Where Google’s consent message applies, Google manages advertising choices and may serve eligible limited ads according to your decision. If that message does not ask about analytics, Google Analytics is not loaded. Change your choices using the buttons on our Cookie Policy page. Our measurement configuration removes ranking and filter parameters from page URLs and does not add calculator inputs to measurement events.
Transfers outside Türkiye
To serve the site and use advertising and measurement services, some personal data is transferred to service providers abroad:
- Amazon Web Services (server in Frankfurt, Germany): on every visit, your IP address, requested page, request time and browser information, to deliver pages, investigate errors and maintain security.
- Google (several countries, including the United States): your IP address, page address and device and browser information for the consent message and ad requests; where you allow it, advertising and measurement cookies, ad personalization and Google Analytics measurement data.
If you do not allow measurement and advertising cookies, Google Analytics is not loaded and personalized ads are not shown, but requests are still sent to Google to serve limited ads. Your calculator inputs are not sent to these providers. To ask about the safeguards for these transfers under Article 9 of Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), contact us at the address above.
University data
The guide displays program information and last-admitted-candidate net scores prepared from YÖK Atlas and ÖSYM sources. “Kaç Net Gerekir?” loads data files from metugpa; selecting a university or program does not require sending your personal information to YÖK Atlas. If you follow a source link, you visit that institution’s website and its own practices apply.
If you email us
We use your email address and the information in your message to respond and investigate the issue you report. Emails are also processed through Gmail, which we use for correspondence. You do not need to include an identity number, password or personal exam result document.
Retention, security and your rights
Browser records, server access logs, emails and information held by third-party services are not kept in the same place or subject to the same retention period. You can delete browser records yourself. Retention of other information depends on the relevant service settings, processing purpose and any legal obligations; we do not promise one automatic deletion period for all information.
You can contact us to ask whether your data is processed, request information, request correction of inaccurate information, or request deletion and exercise other rights subject to applicable law. We may not be able to remotely delete records stored only on your device; you can remove them through your browser settings. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely risk-free.
Updates
We may update this policy as the site changes. The current version’s date is shown on this page. Visiting this page or continuing to use the site is not consent to processing that requires explicit consent.
